Arrabiata Sauce

Ingredients
  • 5 ml olive oil
  • 160 g chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 90 ml red wine
  • 10 g white sugar
  • 3 g chopped fresh basil
  • 3 g crushed red pepper flakes
  • 30 g tomato paste
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 0.8 g Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 g ground black pepper
  • 2 cans peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 8 g chopped fresh parsley

Method



  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in oil for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in wine, sugar, basil, red pepper, tomato paste, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, black pepper and tomatoes; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer uncovered about 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in parsley. Ladle over the hot cooked pasta of your choice.
